You're Right (or Not) to Be Angry

You're Right (or Not) to Be Angry

Megan Kelly and her boss Roger Ailes were all smiles following a huge ratings the Fox network garnered from your Republicans' first debate last Thursday, Aug. 8 in Cleveland.  But the smile probably didn't last for very long on Ailes' countenance as conservative viewers of Fox deluged the network with emails and tweets expressing disgust using the job Kelly and her supporting crew of Bret Baier and Chris Wallace did of moderating the talk.

In recent years, however, your situation has escalated,. Although it doesn't directly involve me, it is affecting another family member whom I care very deeply for. The issue is serious and I am without recourse in order to avoid further damage. The energy I've expended wanting to accept this really is starting out wear thin and I find myself seriously agitated over this matter. Intellectually I know that on every level I must release my anger. I also understand specifically what steps to look at nevertheless I am not wanting to achieve this. I'll admit a part of me feels that so long as I still verbalize my incense that somehow those that have authority will facilitate the modification I am seeking. (I do not posses that ability.) If a student who's angry or tends to bully comes with a underlying disorder including bipolar disorder or oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), a teacher would want to consult with the IEP affiliates if anger has escalated inside the classroom. However, if the child has not yet been identified with any disorder, finding out why he or she is so upset is the vital thing for the solution.

I'm suggesting one more thing, something very different from managing our anger. I want to advise that in lieu of managing our anger, perhaps we could transform it. Not merely changing our behavior, but literally changing the emotion which has the energy to control us. Not just managing anger, transforming it. That is real inner change that lasts. That's genuine emotional change that goes past getting the committment just to walk away from a fight or even an argument. Just walking away changes nothing. Consider also, that just walking away simply stores up that episode of anger to erupt at another time.
