Four lieder by Schubert further showcased the baritone's vocal depth. 'Der Erk??nig' was certainly a presentation of not just musical talent, but emotional depth. In this work, Ishmel brought unique 'colors' to each character within this age old story by Goethe. Pianist Mikael Joyner enjoyed the accomplishment of your stellar concert pianist, yet with all the sensitivity of your collaborative partner. Cellist Khary Joyner joined the baritone and pianist for Massenet's '??l??gie.' The legato lines of Joyner's cello wove across the singers voice just like a garment of silk. This piece provided a pleasant contrast towards the Schubert group and also the 'Au bord de L'eau' of Faur??. The music of Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson and Harry C. Banks were noteworthy inclusions. Two short songs by Perkinson, 'Melancholy' and 'The Faithless Shepherd' provided a great segue into Bank's reflective 'A Prayer of St. Francis' through which there was a papable sense of not just musical understanding, but a spiritual connnection relating to the singer and also the text. Singing was an order for the day, but it was Ishmel's recitation of James Weldon Johnson's funeral sermon 'Go Down Death' that accorded the singer a rousing standing ovation before the conclusion of his program. The final song around the program, Kerr's 'Great Day' was obviously a proclamation of just that!

Green pair recently teamed up for a new acoustic folk project dubbed You + Me with Alecia Moore a.k.a. American pop superstar Pink. The pair released their first studio album together titled Rose Ave on Oct. 14 via RCA. Three singles have been released in the album, including "You and Me," "Break the Cycle" and "Capsized."
